Strange effect with OpenGL and a spacecraft model

Hi. I'm running 1.5.1 and discovered this when looking at the "Silent Running" add-on, which draws one of the big dome ships from the movie of the same name. It has a single 3ds model with no additional textures.

Here is the spacecraft in all render modes other than OpenGL 2.0:

Here is the same ship in OpenGL 2.0:

Notice there is no color or transparency to the domes

I would much prefer it in OpenGL 2.0 because of the planetshine and other great effects I can see there.

My card is a GeForce 3600 GT with current drivers, and settings at "application controlled".

Any suggestions anyone?

Frank

Frank,

1. It's a bug in the SSC declaration.
2. It's actually a bug in all but the OpenGL 2.0 path.

The fix is to comment out or delete the SSC line
Texture ""

Celestia now officially supports placing a Texture on a model (although its implementation leaves a great deal to be desired).

ValleyForge.ssc includes the statement
Texture ""
so Celestia paints an empty texture on the model.

Instant greyness.

Sorry, there is no such thing as a Geforce 3600 GT
It could be Geforce 3 Ti (unlikely) or Geforce 6600/7600/8600/9600 GT.See the correct model of your video card...

Selden:

:D Yep, that did it. Removing the texture statement fixed the problem. THANKS!!!

Daniel:

Yep - I meant a 3800 GT

So it is a Radeon HD 3850 GT?I think ATI have only Radeon HD 3850 XT and XTX,not GT...
Also, there is no Geforce 3800 GT.

This are the series still availabe in Nvidia:Geforce 7,8 and 9.

Daniel:

You are correct. I was quoting my cpu. My Nvidia card is a 7600 GT.
