Using Celestia 1.5.0 Final, I no longer have the ability to click on any
of the points of light I can see in the night sky in order to obtain the
name of the star, and to [G]o to it. Anyone else have this problem?
If not, where should I look for possible screw ups on my part? Have
already made certain that the celestia.cfg file points to the appropriate
data and STC files, so I'm just wondering what else I can check.
Further clarification: Some of the points of light CAN be clicked on for
information, but these are few and far between. I'm using the usual
starts.dat file and all of the STC's which come with Celestia.
Any ideas?
Thanks again, Brain-Dead

Never mind...
I re-installed Celestia again, and this problem went away. I must have
screwed it up myself somehow.![Embarassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)

Okay,
Figured it out...
If you display as many stars as you can via adjustment of the
faintest visible magnitude (and other settings) then you CANNOT
click on all the stars you can see and get information on the object
you're trying to view.
Is there a way to remedy this?
Thanks, Brain-Dead

I'm unable to replicate. After maxing out the magnitude setting, every star (I tried 20 or so) I clicked on had info and I was able to goto.

Well thanks for the attempt anyway...
I guess I'm just stuck with a simple piece of crap machine after all. If
it can go wrong, it certainly does on this thing. <sigh>
How about if you add Pascal's 1-million stars database? Same results?
Thanks, Brain-Dead

selden wrote:Bob,
Exactly what stars do you click on that give no results? Do you get a 404 error or does nothing happen?
Simply nothing happens, Selden. Whereas I would normally get a
name, and some informational data (Such as type of star, etc) I now
get absolutely NO response from a click on the star(s). As I said, if
I reinstall Celestia, everything works fine. If I try to display more stars
by changing the faintest visible magnitude, then I start getting NO
information whatsoever with a normal left-click.
Beats me...
Thanks again, Bob
