Flickering / Strange textures

Hopefully I don't do anything REALLY stupid by putting this question to its own topic  , but I have two problems:

1. Some planets, not all of them, are flickering. Sometimes flickering disappears when zooming in or out

2. Some planet textures seems very odd, I mean they don't show all, just stripe around planet, moon etc.

My computer is 1,6 Mhz, graphic card is 3D Blaster 4 Ti 4600 and Windows XP. And there's now problems with speed in Celestia, I mean that there's no slowing or nothing like that, it works fine and smooth (except those problems).

And Celestia is that educational one.

Are you using the latest drivers for your video card?

Sounds to me like there could be something wrong with your
"solarsys.ssc" file too... If this file is pointing Celestia to a planet
texture which doesn't exist, you will get some strange displays.

You described one of your problems thusly:

"Some planet textures seems very odd, I mean they don't show all,
just stripe around planet, moon etc. "

The "stripe" around a planet can occur easily if a ring texture has
been incorrectly defined in the "solarsys.ssc" file. Use Notepad, or
whatever your equivalent editor is, and have a look at this file in
your Celestia/data folder.

Just FYI...

Thanks, Bob
