Problem with VIA Chrome9 graphics card

Post #1by driscoll » 26.07.2007, 20:47

Hi everyone!

I just heard about Celestia today, and I'm curious to try it out. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's working on my laptop very well. I imagine my graphics card just might not be good enough, but I thought I'd post my problem here. I did a look around the FAQ and searched for my graphics card and didn't find anything, so hopefully I'm not going over old ground again.

Problem: Earth appears wrong, like lines have been cut into it from pole to pole: screenshot at http://senduit.com/5dc78b.
System: 1GB 1.5GHz VIA C7-M Processor, Windows XP SP2
Graphics: 64MB VIA Chrome9?„? HC IGP, Version: 1.4 20.00.01e (from Celestia's OpenGL Driver Info)
Program: Celestia v1.4.1

When I disabled hardware acceleration, Earth appeared normal, so it is something with my graphics card.

I appreciate any and all help. Thanks!

driscoll,

Check the Web site of the company that made your laptop. You should download and install the most recent graphics drivers available for the model that you have. Generic graphics drivers might be available on the Via website, but most laptops have some proprietary modifications.
