I am unsure if this is actually a bug, or what it is.

In close proximity to sol (> 30 light years at least) there are several TYC stars that I honestly do not believe exist. I have checked many of them with Sinbad, and I found that they are not in there. I am using the 2-million star .DAT file, and Celestia v1.5.0pre1, but the issue shows up in both Celestia v1.4.x and Celestia v1.5.0pre2 as well.

Does anybody have some insight on this?

You'll need to contact the author of the Addon to be sure, but have you looked at the Web pages which describe how the Addon was created? They might provide some insight.
