When I make a screenshot, in the upper left corner the stars shine through the planet! When I switch off the stars, everything is OK. I also saw behaviour like this in Edwards gallery, picture 17 although there are no stars shining through, but there are more stars in the upper left quarter of the image... http://ennui.shatters.net/gallery/view_photo.php?set_albumName=DEdwards&id=001_G_001

It happens in the area overlapped by the image-capture menu. Also, areas overlapped by other menus often, but not always, are greyed out.

In the picture above, the grey area in the lower right was where the "Solar system browser" window was open. The area to the left is where the image-capture menu was.

One workaround is to run Celestia in a small enough on-screen window that the menus don't overlap with it. If your video card supports a second display, dragging the menus to the other screen should work, too.

This happens when using Celestia 1.2.5pre7. This problem does not exist in 1.2.4.
I see this on a 256MB 500MHz P3, WinXP Pro SP1, Nvidia GF4 Ti 4200, Detonator 40.72.
I do *NOT* see this problem on a 256MB 2GHz P4, WinNT4 sp6a, ATI Rage 128 Pro Ultra, OpenGL v1.2.1517

As Buzz said I get this to. In one of the pictures of either the earth or of one of hd28185b's moons you can see another effect. I can't post the link to the picture because someone has got another P2P program running on the shatters.net server and it keeps me from getting into the gallery. But if you look at the rim of the atmospere were the dialog windows was when the picture was taken it looks like an impact in the atmosphere of the planet. Kind of an interesting distortion. I have learned to drag the dialog window away from anything important I want to get a screen cap of. I nearly drag it off screen.

Buzz and Don,

I suspect it would be useful to Chris if you were to include your system specifics, especially graphics cards and driver versions. While you probably mentioned them in other postings, you might have upgraded since then.
