Brightness bug in 1.4?
For a fraction of a second brightness in standard 1.4 stuff is VERY bright. But add on galaxies are always very very bright .... like mega big bright blobs?

The first part is fixed already, the add-on part is most probably NOT a bug.
Since you did not tell us what ADD-ON galaxies you used, I have to guess. With high probability you used Selden's (or somebodiy else's) outdated galaxy catalog that does NOT have an absolute magnitude entry for each galaxy yet. So from where should the galaxies know in this case how bright they are supposed to shine
This format is NOT to be used anymore with 1.4.0 since also the galaxy orientations are completely WRONG.
Selden has added a corresponding comment to his archive recently. Unfortunately, ADD-ON authors often don't care to update their add-ons to the current standards of the main celestia engine!

Ah ok It's indeed Selden's galaxies. Thanx for the info, I'll wait for an update then for the galaxies.

It will not come, since the orientations are lacking. But you got 10600 galaxies now in 1.4.0. This is the /entire/ revised NGC/IC catalog. What else do you want?
