There seem to be some intermittant problems with the Locations menu.
Unfortunately I can't duplicate them under controlled circumstances, but I thought I should mention them in case the causes are "obvious".
Several times at work, the Locations menu in 125pre4 opened up the full width of the Celestia window. Sometimes when it did that, the entries in favorites.cel were not displayed, and sometimes they were. If it matters, that system is NT4sp6a, 2GHz P4, ATI Rage Pro. It hasn't happened on my system at home (XPsp1, 500MHz P3, GF4 Ti4200).
Every once in a while, the entries in Favorites.cel seem to influence one another. At least once (running 125p3) I'm sure I saw a value which was only in one of the entries seem to affect one of the others. Spcifically, I had an entry that went to the "end of time" to show the bizarre orbit of the moon. When I selected one of the other entries (one after it in the list, I think), it went to the end of time, too, although its actual time specification for that entry was much more reasonable. I'm not sure now which system that happened on.
sigh.
pre 4 bug: intermittant Locations/Favorites problems
I have heard someone esle say about this bug before
but it has never happend to me.
but when Chris released the second 1.2.5 beta release
I decided to re-do my favorites
so deleted the favoreites file from Celestia directory,
then run the program and started to collect my favorites again.
and i have never had a problem with them since
I find it also very good if you put your favorites in to folders,
instead of the root of locations.
