can't lock onto stars - Pre5 bug?

Post #1by Evil Dr Ganymede » 04.11.2004, 00:42

In Pre5, try this:

Go to and centre on "Eps Ind Ba". Type "Eps Ind Bb" into the console. Then centre on it. Then try to Lock onto it - I can't do this. It says "Lock" on the screen, but it doesn't actually lock onto it. Is this a bug?

I can't seem to do this with any multiple stars.

Is there some reason that one can't lock onto stars? (it still works for planets)

And are we ever going to see the star orbits? Will this be in a later version?

I would also add the very minor note that if one chooses to have a star labeled (I only have my add-on stars labelled by changing the cfg file) and it is a multiple star, you cannot see the name until you are within 5 AU from the barycenter.

Thanks for reminding me of this omission . . . Last night, I got both lock and sync orbit working for stars. I'll have this fix included in 1.4.0pre6 tomorrow. I may have star orbit paths working too, but I'm having people over for cognac tasting tonight, so there's no guarantee I'll be in a coding state of mind later on. :)
