The output is harmless. The first one is just a typo in extrasolar.ssc. The second tells that your max star magnitude is set at 6.

Are you saying there is no menubar on top??

This is certainly the first report on a missing menuebar in Linux after 2500 mails...

Since you have given practically no info, only guessing is possible.

What's the state of your hardware 3d support (glxinfo output?)? Which graphics card?

Did you get any error messages or warnings during the compilation?

There must be other REdHat 7.3 users here without any problems with 1.2.4 Hallo....

missing menu bar on startup

after checking what happens during a new installation, I noticed one line :
Disabled GTK GUI because of missing packages.
I guess it was gtkglarea ( thanks install file ) ; it was !
--> download + installation of the missing package and now celestia works fine, with the menu bar
always look very carefully all the lines during installation ...

I suspected actually that gtkglarea was missing, since

1) the menue is drawn using gtkglarea commands
2) this small package is easily overlooked ...

In case of future problems, please, give precise info:

./configure output, hardware, OS, ...

I have the same problem after installing celestia on my gentoo 1.2 box.
I'm running KDE
There is no menu and GTKGLAREA IS installed.."
Puzzled....

All opengl woks fine as with the keyboard I can do some decently smooth flying.
