131p9, Windows, Can't Lock Sol-Earth

Post #1by don » 15.08.2003, 06:42

Version 1.3.1 pre9, Windows

* 0 (Select Sol)
* f (Follow)
* 3 (Select Earth)
* : (Lock)

Nothing happens.

Why can't Earth be Locked to Sol, instead of the other way around, which does work? Is this a situation where a note I found somewhere comes into play? ...

"Unfortunately, this definition does not work when the rotation axis is perfectly aligned with the reference to target direction. It also produces strange results with precessing objects. We are looking into changing it so that this Coordinate System is defined by the axis of precession instead of the axis of rotation."

All the problems you've reported for 1.3.1p9 for Windows are not present on the Linux CVS version.It's a bit strange since the engine code is the same.
