PHPBB problem: session limit too short again.

Chris,

I think the session limit got reduced to the default when you upgraded phpbb. Twice now I've lost long detailed responses that I simply can't take the time to type in again.

sigh.

I'm getting the impression is that the authors of phpbb may have neglected to test it with browsers other than Internet Explorer v6. I'm using IE6 sp1 and the only problems I've been having are with the timeout.

I'm not sure if the problem is with phpBB or the php itself. I think that phpBB just uses session management functions built into php. Anyhow, I bumped the session length to an hour, but people are still complaining about timeout or worse. Blah.

Honestly, this upgrade of the box or of Php from RedHat is /a pain/ for non IE6 users! I have even changed from using Netscape 4.x since about 10 years to KDE 3.1.1 Konqueror. It is somewhat better than with Netscape 4.x, but double logins/logouts and worse are still the usual.

I have decided to reduce my posts in this box to a minimum, until it works acceptably;-).

After all, Celestia is meant to be

MULTI-PLATFORM!

There might be another problem here. I've always used Konqueror and I've never experienced an unwanted logout.

In fact I never logout and my session is always there.

Christophe:

Could you somehow "reset" yourself, such that your ID neither appears on the top right of the box canvas, nor as registered user at the bottom.

Are you claiming that after typing your user name and password into the login areas at the bottom, you will see 'Log out [Christophe]' at the top right of the box screen? I doubt that...

It takes me and apparently Jens /two/ logins....

Reproducably.

What I'm saying is that I never have to enter my password. I'm always loged in.

I just tried loging out and back on again and everything worked as expected. Clicked on Log out [Christophe] and my ID disappeared from the page. I then loged back on (from the login page though, not from the front page) and Log out [ Christophe ] reappeared.

I just tried and it worked the same from the front page. I always check 'log me on automatically each visit'.

I think, it also works for me. At least I am 'Log off [t00fri]' since quite a long time. Being a diligent user;-) I always logged off when I left...

As you know meanwhile, I am just not made for LUXUS!
