its no really a bug, but its not something normal.
a red square appears when i select something:

how can i tak it off??? yesterday it wasn't there, now it is, and i dont like it.

CTRL-K toggles markers.

I had the same problem, a little red losange at the screen center, and as you I didn't like it.
But, try and try again, I have found that pressing the key 2 on the main keyboard (not on the number pad on right) eliminates the problem.

I use markers to track a planet I want to return to...or to track the position of a planet or moon relative to my current position...Usually orbiting another planet...Gives me a good idea of the dynamics I am coding in the ssc files...

Or just a good way to mark where home is if I end up marking Earth... from where I am at in the universe ;)

So they have thier uses...
I'm trying to teach the cavemen how to play scrabble, its uphill work. The only word they know is Uhh and they dont know how to spell it!
