Re: Opening Celestia 1.6 bug
Do you get an error message when Celestia fails to start?
If so, what is it?
If so, what is it?

To me it smells of a registry problem. Did you deinstall a previous version and install the actual version 1.6 in the proper way?? Or did you do some fiddling by hand somewhere?
One thing you might try is to deinstall Celestia 1.6 properly, reboot and then reinstall it again.

But how did you install version 1.6?? As usual in Windows, one first should deinstall a previous version according to the standard Windows procedure, before the new version is installed. Installing over the old version can do horrible things in the registry...

Are you a beginner with Windows? Such habits of NOT uninstalling previous versions can lead to never ending and UNPREDICTABLE trouble... You don't seem to be aware how the registry works.
In view of this, I strongly recommend that you first deinstall Celestia 1.6 in the usual manner:
Click: Start-> Control Panel-> Add or Remove Programs
Look up the entry for Celestia 1.6.0, click on it and then on 'Remove'
After this has finished, leave that panel and REBOOT.
Then download the final Celestia 1.6.0 distribution, click it and run through the installer.
If you are lucky, this will solve your problems.

No, if you did install things correctly. The uninstaller will only delete the files that belong to the proper Celestia distribution. Hence all add-ons in the 'extras' directory should remain untouched. When you reinstall Celestia 1.6.0, just choose the same directory for Celestia as before (C:\Program Files\Celestia).
There will be a question during installation, whether you want to use that same directory. Answer with yes. Then everything should be fine.

Too bad. Then I am sorry that I can't say more on a distance...
Did you try to REBOOT after reinstallation of Celestia 1.6.0? (Just to be sure that the registry has been updated)

Re: Opening Celestia 1.6 bug
it opens in a wierd way (like before) the PC screen goes a little bit funny while it loads, and when it opens properly, it goes away
and it still has the same problem
since this bug seems to be on this PC, ill try it on my laptop and if it still doesn't work, ill just reinstall 1.5 and stick with that until 1.7 (if there is going to be one)
weird thing is, i tried running Celestia 1.6 in a different user account and it worked perfectly
this is a weird problem (and it always seems to be me that gets them)
and it still has the same problem

This is not so wierd, actually. It strongly points towards a permission problem. It makes a big difference whether you are working with administrator priviledges or not! One can check easily the permissions that are required to operate celestia or any other program. Right-click on the program and then click Properties and then Security. There you can inspect the situation and also modified the security requirements, provided you are logged in with administrator priviledges!
Anyway, if something went wrong with your user priviledges during the installation process such effects as you observe could well arise.
