I wanted to upgrade the default asteroid texture by a dds of mine but I get a lil' problem:

The model show some transparency effect...
I guess it's related to the use of a cms model as default. Also if one want to add a normal map for a better default rendering seems it's not possible.
So to fix these issues, could the default cms model be upgraded to a cmod model (with tangents etc...)?

I think that your proposed solution is a good one: upgrade the default cms model to a cmod with tangents and also some more detail. I will check the cms loading code to see what might be causing this transparency effect. It looks to me that z-buffering is being disabled for some reason.
