I have a few suggestions that may improve performance on Windows Vista. First, you have to right-click on "Computer" and choose "Properties" from the menu. Second, in the left pane, you must click on "Advanced System Settings". When the prompt-box appears, make sure the "Advanced" tab is selected and then click on the "Settings" button near the top. Under "Visual Effects", you must click on the "Adjust for best performance" radio button and apply the settings at the bottom of the box. Additionally, you should disable the "User Account Control" in the Windows Vista Security settings since this may interfere with certain Celestia files being installed properly and, it definitely interferes with changing/saving the parameters of the .SSC files. These settings may not work with every computer but, it should help with the overall performance of Celestia on slower systems.
