Planetary System Generator (C++ compiler required)

Post #1by SpaceStalker » 27.12.2021, 18:05

This program can generate random main sequence stars, brown dwarfs and planetary systems around them.

Features of the program:

->Generates all spectral classes of stars MKGFABO and brown dwarfs LTY.
->35 unique planet types.
->Textures for all objects included.
->The movement of objects corresponds to physical laws.
->All objects look scientifically realistic and have properties close to real (there is no interstellar absorption in Celestia, so stars can look brighter from Earth than real ones).
->Every system has randon RA, DEC and distance, you can change it.
->Convenient output to .stc and . ssc files.

Future updates will add:
1) Builder of a planetary system around an existing star or star you already have by its name and parameters.
2) Stars of other luminosity classes (giants, subgiants, supergiants, hypergiants, subdwarfs), stellar remnants (white dwarfs, neutron stars, black holes), rogue planets.
3) Binary and multiple star systems.
4) New types of planets.
5) Asteroid belts and satellite systems of planets.
6) The light of the cities on the night side of the inhabited planets, the light of the night side of the hot planets.
7) High resolution textures for all planets.
8) Ability to simulate the real distribution of stars by types.
9) The ability to simulate stellar populations and populate various structural elements (disk, halo, bulge, etc.) of our and other galaxies, globular clusters.
10) Create open clusters.

An Extinction parameter is supported in Celestia 1.7.0.

You might be interested in my star generator, which generates stars in a spherical distribution (like a globular cluster).

There is a limit to how far we can travel into the stars.

The download is quite slow and eventually fails. Edit: I've successfully downloaded it now.

Trappist sent me the readme that's included, which indicates that the generator requires a C++ compiler to use. It would be good to say that in the OP, so people know what they're getting.

Just looking at the example systems here, but why do so many planets have bright rings, and why are the rings always so wide? There are also some issues with hot planets having night sides brighter than their day sides.
