GIMP Question

I'm sure if this is in the wrong place, the moderators, in their wisdom, shall move it...
I use Wilbur ALOT for my textures. One of its most outstanding features is the ability to make textures from black and white images. What I've been doing is making such textures and then transfering to Wilbur. (yes, there's much back and forth, but I cannot argue with my results as of late.)
My question is this...when generating a world, its stats might say "Water Coverage: 56% (for arguement's sake.) When making my black/white texture, I have no way of knowing if the image is of the correct percentage. Is there anything in GIMP which can tell me how much of the image is a certain color?
Thanks
