ROSS (Phase 2), 2031-2035

NOTES:
- Files for some ROSS modules are the same exact files found from the International Space Station and Lunar Gateway addons, so overwriting them should not affect the latter mentioned addons.
- Visiting spacecraft, the Orel and TGK PG, will be released as separate addons
- All dates used here for simulating station assembly are fictional, although they are based on what is publicly known on current plans (as of 2023)

International Sun-Earth Explorer

Post #42by DaveBowman2001 » 30.05.2023, 15:35

cover_image.jpg
The International Sun-Earth Explorers (ISEE) were a series of satellites designed to study the interaction between the Earth's magnetic field and the solar wind. Three were launched between 1977 and 1978, where the last one (also known as the International Cometary Explorer or (ICE) is notable for being the first spacecraft to enter orbit around a Lagrange point and fly by a comet in 1985

NOTES:
- Original addon by Jack Higgins and Sinucep.
- Modernized its 3DS model into CMOD
- The orbits of both ISEE-1 and 2 came from CelesTrak, while trajectory data for ICE is from JPL HORIZONS

Since I still haven't released Chandrayaan-2 yet until now, I took the opportunity to finish XYZV trajectories of its identical twin, Chandrayaan-3, soon to be launched a few days from now. Taken directly from prelaunch data published on JPL HORIZONS
cover_image.jpg
Phase 1: Cruise to the Moon

cover_image.jpg
Phase 2: Lunar Orbit Insertion/Landing

A landing phase is included, but the data is currently erroneous as it lands on the Far Side of the Moon at night (2023-Aug-23), missing its intended landing site somewhere around Lagrange A Crater by 1,800 km. I'd expect this will be corrected by the time this mission becomes operational

Salyut 7 (2023)

Post #46by DaveBowman2001 » 20.07.2023, 10:19

cover_image.jpg
Salyut 7 and Soyuz T-14

Salyut 7 was a Soviet space station in orbit from 1982 to 1991. Until 1986, it was visited by a total of six long-duration expedition crews and four short-term ones arriving on Soyuz T spacecraft, with the longest lasting 237 days. It is the ninth and the last of the Salyuts ever launched, and while not as successful as its immediate predecessor, it paved the way for building and maintaining large, modular space stations over long periods of time, starting with Mir

WHAT'S NEW?
- Replaces entirely the May 2022 version of this addon
- New, more detailed CMOD model reworked from Jack Higgins' original 3DS addon
- Solar panels capable of suntracking

Salyut 6 (2023)

Post #47by DaveBowman2001 » 21.07.2023, 12:57

cover_image.jpg
Salyut 6 with Progress 7 (left) and Soyuz 34 (right)

Salyut 6 was a Soviet space station in orbit from 1977 to 1982. Along with Salyut 7, they represent the "second generation" of space stations, which feature two docking ports that make resupplying and direct crew transfers possible for the first time in history. A total of 16 Soyuz missions (6 long-duration expeditions and 10 short-term missions) visited the space station, with the longest one lasting for 185 days. It is the eighth, and the most successful, space station launched as part of the Salyut series

- Original add-on by linuxman. Note that the source URL is a direct download link of his original work
- Converted the original 3DS model into CMOD, and gave the hull metallic reflections for added realism
- Solar panels capable of suntracking

Salyut 5 (2023)

Post #48by DaveBowman2001 » 23.07.2023, 13:03

cover_image.jpg
Salyut 5 and Soyuz 24

Salyut 5, also known secretly as Almaz 3, was a Soviet space station in orbit for only 14 months between 1976 to 1977. Like Salyut 2 and 3 before it, Salyut 5 was designed to be a manned spy satellite for the Soviet military. However, only 2 out of 3 crew missions arriving in Soyuz 7K-T spacecraft visited and operated the station before the whole Almaz program was cancelled and replaced entirely by robotic spy satellites. It is the seventh space station launched as part of the Salyut series

NOTES
- Replaces entirely the May 2022 version of this addon
- New, more detailed CMOD model, and now has a distinct design of its own to differentiate it from Salyut 3
- The Soyuz is not included in this add-on, but will be released as a separate, co-dependent addon

Salyut 4 and Soyuz 17

Salyut 4 was a Soviet space station in orbit from 1974 to 1977. It was visited by two crewed missions arriving in Soyuz spacecraft, with the second one lasted for 63 days, overlapping with the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project in 1975. Along with its ill-fated identical twin, Cosmos 557, they were the fifth and sixth space stations launched as part of the Salyut series

Salyut 2 and 3 (2023)

Post #50by DaveBowman2001 » 24.07.2023, 08:34

cover_image.jpg
Salyut 3 and Soyuz 14

Salyut 3, also known secretly as Almaz 2, was a Soviet space station in orbit for only 7 months between 1974 and 1975. Together with its ill-fated sibling, Salyut 2 (which was destroyed by orbital debris), they were designed as manned spy satellites for the Soviet military. Salyut 3 is notable for being the only known spacecraft to carry an onboard gun, which was derived from a Rikhter R-23 anti-aircraft cannon. It was only visited once by a cosmonaut crew. Both Salyut 2 and Salyut 3 are the third and fourth space stations launched as part of the Salyut series

NOTES
- Replaces entirely the May 2022 version of this addon
- Salyut 3's failed predecessor, Salyut 2, is included in this addon
- New, more detailed CMOD model, and now has a distinct design of its own to differentiate it from Salyut 5
- Due to its classified nature, the exact position of Salyut 3's onboard gun is still unknown, therefore it is not modelled on this addon
- The Soyuz is not included in this add-on, but will be released as a separate, co-dependent addon

GRACE and GRACE-FO (2023)

Post #51by DaveBowman2001 » 26.07.2023, 03:11

cover_image.jpg
The Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) is a joint NASA-DLR mission dedicated in studying how Earth's mass is distributed around the planet and how it varies over time. Twin satellites were first launched in 2002 and both operated until 2018. They were both quickly replaced by the follow-on mission, GRACE-FO, which used identical hardware as the original mission starting May 2018.

NOTES
- Original add-ons (GRACE and GRACE-FO) by gironde
- CMOD model modified to match the rendering seen from its source on the NASA 3D Resources site
- Since the original GRACE satellites were deorbited in 2017 and 2018, only the two GRACE-FO satellites can be visited in the Present Day

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been here in a few months. I thought it was taking an unusually long time for the site to come back and gave up hope after a few weeks. Didn't realize that the site and forum moved to a new domain. Anyway, good to see that a lot of progress has been made with the addons, and I'm sure that more will continue to come.

(By the way, don't go to the old domain. I'm sure most of you guys know this by now, but it redirects to a spam website that made my antivirus go crazy.)

Salyut 1 (2023)

Post #56by DaveBowman2001 » 31.07.2023, 12:12

detail_image_1.jpg
Salyut 1 and Soyuz 11

Salyut 1 was a Soviet space station in orbit for only six months in 1971. It is notable for being the very first space station to be ever launched into space, beating Skylab for over two years. This station and all its successors became the primary goal of the Soviet space program after they lost the Moon Race with the landing of Apollo 11 in 1969. A single three-cosmonaut crew (Soyuz 11) successfully visited and stayed aboard the station for 23 days, however they were killed just before reentry when their return capsule depressurized, making them the only humans to ever die in space

NOTES
- Replaces entirely the May 2022 version of this addon
- Serves as a spiritual successor to linuxman's Salyut 1: The First Space Station add-on, where the newer model's body frame is based on
- Soyuz 11 (and its failed predecessor, Soyuz 10) is not included in this add-on, but will be released as a co-dependent add-on in the near future

Welcome back! Yeah the Forum's former domain was somehow "seized" during the interim it was down due to server host expiring. During that time, almost all of us post our addon developments on the Discord while we wait for the Forums to be restored

LADEE (2023)

Post #59by DaveBowman2001 » 10.08.2023, 10:30

cover_image.jpg
The Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) was a short-lived NASA lunar exploration and technology demonstration mission. It was the only spacecraft launched from a Minotaur V rocket on 2013-Sept-7. During its seven-month mission, LADEE orbited around the Moon's equator, using its instruments to study the thin lunar exosphere and dust. The mission ended on 2014-Apr-18, when the spacecraft intentionally crashed LADEE into the far side of the Moon, later determined to be near the eastern rim of Sundman V crater.

NOTES
- Original add-on by gironde
- New, more realistic CMOD model for the spacecraft
- Complete XYZV trajectories from launch to deorbit, which was divided into three phases

Proba-3

Post #60by EarthMoon » 21.09.2023, 16:21

proba3ss.png

Proba-3 is a technological demonstration mission by the European Space Agency devoted to high precision formation flying to achieve scientific coronagraphy. It is part of the series of PROBA satellites that are being used to validate new spacecraft technologies and concepts while also carrying scientific instruments. It consists of two spacecrafts, Coronagraph Spacecraft (CSC) and Occulter Spacecraft (OSC). The OSC throws a shadow on CSC which can then measure and view our Sun's Corona. It is planned to launch in 2024.

Notes:
Both OCS and CCS are one model, thus the view focus is between both spacecrafts. I might change this in a later update.
To view the spacecraft, you need to set the date to a date after 2024-01-01 and go to Earth.
