Yep you read it right. This is an extremely hi-res (545K/25-meter) texture of Uranus's rings, complete with accurate inclinations. The texture is derived from Voyager 2 radio ring occultation data.
Included in this addon are:
- 4, 5, 6, α, β, δ, ε, γ, and η rings at 25 meter resolution
- λ ring at 100 m resolution
- ζ ring at 1 km resolution

Uranus25mRings.zip
this zip has a very hard to read ssc file
you might want to reformat it so that it can be read easier

Beware! Both versions (realistic and enhanced) using the same png files. (enhanced). In the ssc (realistic) file it is necessary to modify :
Texture "UranusRings-ZetaEnhanced.png"
by
Texture "UranusRings-Zeta.png"

(same for the other rings)

Added after 42 minutes 33 seconds:
The rings are inside Uranus. Isn't there an error in the Radius 10000 parameter? (smaller than that of the planet)

Added after 1 hour 28 minutes:
Something is really wrong with this addon. I remove it from my installation.

Apologies for the buggy early release! I compiled the installation at around 9 PM local time, and i was about to sleep after a long day (chess tournament inclusive), so it ended up being rather messy.
I will make sure to put some fixes in it later today...

Cheers!

Done. I previously made it using Excel to save time, so the output was more codey.

Fixed that too. Hopefully.

The radii of the dummy planets is like that to prevent ring dissapearance. The rings thenselves do have the correct radii because Celestia ring radii are measured from Uranus's center.

Okay for the radius, I understood the trick. I downloaded the modified files but I still don't see the rings. I thought of another possibility, I modified the textures into .jpg files and here is the result:

NEVER TURN PNGs WITH TRANSPARENT BACKGROUNDS INTO JPG, it absolutely borks it up, JPG does not support alpha channels

That and also because Uranus's rings are soo hillariously thin that its almost invisible unless you get a good angle.

Blame the Voyager occultation data, not me. I only did the texture conversion.

excuse me but I blame no one. I know very well that you did not invent the data.
