Solar System - Textures from Solar System Simulator (JPL/Caltech)

Post #1by SpaceExplorer » 01.06.2022, 17:17

I created an addon using JPL Solar System Simulator textures. Modifies all planets and some moons in the Solar System with textures produced by JPL/Caltech.

NOTE: These textures are very old and therefore the texture of Mercury as well as Saturn's moons is imcomplete. Others textures are in black and white, such as the Galilean moons Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. Some are fictional, such as the texture of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Still, it's fun to see a Solar System in a different way.

Textures are from https://space.jpl.nasa.gov/tmaps/
. SSC by me, SpaceExplorer.

Ah yes, NASA's 25 year outdated maps. Good for a throwback to my elementary school textbooks!

There is a limit to how far we can travel into the stars.

@Shadow-Dragon-777 Pluto and Charon then, their appearances were just guesswork. The New Horizons mission hadn't even been approved yet.

@trappistplanets Yes I know. But there were no real maps of Earth available on the site. That's why I decided to include the topographic map of the Earth.
