Council of giants is a group of the 14 giant galaxies, included Andromeda and Milky Way, embedded in a dark matter disk of the 34-million light years across and only 1.5-million light years thick

where did that purple background come from?

Hi Trappist, the purple background is the Planck's CMB customized with Gimp since the official red version of Planck web page to be more friendly to view in my program and avoid an annoying visual disturb, lol :smoke:
