Asteroids for Celestia
new topics for your addons on Asteroids
I just wanna comment that a lot of the add-ons, including the asteroid add-ons, on the Celestia Motherlode are sadly really out of date. There's not really much we can do about it, though, since most of the creators are no longer active. Also, Art Blos and his team's Celestia Origin project covers a ton of asteroids anyway.

Using the Minor Planet Center's List of Neptune Trojans, I was able to quickly create an .ssc file for Neptune trojans. However, the parameters given in the list aren't very precise.
(edit: added the URL to the list itself.)

I made a typo in the message. Should read:#2by Croc » 18.11.2018, 19:58
These are new guidebooks. Themes are Jupiter's name Trojans. Only 253 asteroids. Many asteroids are not in the database. Maybe someone will want to create an additional database of Neptune’s registered Trojans.

In addition, I did not explain what the "#" and "?" Signs mean.
I explain that the positions are marked with "#" and "?" , are absent in the asteroid database Project "Celestia Origin", release dated August 30, 2018.
==================
LukeCEL, thanks for the ssc file.
It will be a model for the development of an additional database of Jupiter’s registered Trojans. In addition, I found a source for compiling the ssc-file of the Jupiter Trojans. https://minorplanetcenter.net//iau/lists/JupiterTrojans.html

By "registered", do you mean all the Trojans with names? Or do you mean all the Trojans with numbers?
Also, do you want the database to not include any asteroids in Project "Celestia Origin"? If so I might need a list of asteroids that are in the project.

LukeCEL,
1. I mean only asteroids with names. Such asteroids 253:
2. Positions marked with red squares are in the database in Project "Celestia Origin. There are 48 such asteroids.
3. It is necessary to create additional base 253- 48 = 205 asteroids.

I counted 57 such asteroids in your list...
Also, I think some are misspelled. "Agirhenes" should be Agasthenes, "Agirrophus" should be Agastrophus, "Aliror" should be Alastor, "Atreropaios" should be Asteropaios, and "Atryanax" should be Astyanax.

I did not include the 6th column. 48 + 9 = 57.
I still found 3 asteroids (blue squares).
The correct number is 57 + 3 = 60!
====================================
I corrected the names of 5 asteroids (orange squares)
Here is the correct list of asteroids:

Okay. Here's the finished product, which has 190 Trojan asteroids. The file does not include Eurydamas, Iphthime, Makhaon, Menestheus, Pandarus, Patroclus, Pyrrhus, and Thoas, and any other Trojans that are included in Project "Celestia Origin".

LukeCEL,
253-60-190=3 asteroids:
In 3 asteroids the access path was incorrectly indicated, so they were not found by Guidebooks.

In 2017, I modified Lut5's Vidiba module to display asteroids based on their orbit or origin rather than the size of their orbit.
To be used correctly in Vidiba (2), asteroids should only be used in one table, so some are voluntarily excluded from one table for use in another.
In spite of that the table concerning Jovian's trojan contains 7209 asteroids. Some use the ssc file from the work of Art Blos and others a complementary file that I created from the JPL database.
The ssc complementary file is not yet complete compared to the 7209 asteroids of the table. I still have to check the ones I miss. A lot of work !
Note: for their use in Vidiba, asteroids are all able to property 'Visible false', it is the use in Vidiba that makes them visible.
Added after 2 hours 25 minutes:
compared to my table Jovian trojan and my ssc files (At Blos and more Jovian Trojan), it remains to create the scc for 7009 asteroids 'Jovian Trojan'
here is the list

After Jovian trojans here are the NEA asteroids (ECA-MCA):
- ECA : Earth crosser and Earth grazing; families : Alinda, Amor, Apollo, Aten, Atira
- MCA : Mars crosser (8065 + 16212)
ssc files complement those of LUT5 and Celestia Origin. The data comes from JPL.

Hello everyone. This is an updated version of the Neptune Trojans add-on I created earlier. Compared to the previous version, it has one additional Trojan (2012 UD185) and updated designations and names for a few of them.
(edit: the new asteroid is 2012 UD185, not 2012 UV177.)
Enjoy:

Let's revive this topic after 3 years
Here I will post some asteroid addons, so as not to create new topics. All orbital parameters will be obtained from JPL SSD.
Here's 2022 EB5. It was the 5th asteroid discovered before it collided with Earth. On March 11, 2022, just 2 hours after its discovery, the 2-meter-long rock entered Earth's atmosphere over the Arctic Ocean.
To see it in Celestia, you must set the time before 2022-Mar-11, 21:32 UTC

2021 PB130
My little child
2021 PB130 is your typical asteroid in the Eulalia family. Not much is known about it, its dark and generic, and also small. And its in the main asteroid belt too.
So why i'm making this? Because despite what the MPC thinks, i actually discovered this asteroid during an IASC search campaign. It holds a special place to me. This is why i did it.
