This addon adds a fictional barycentric system of planets.

Scientifically impossible, but hey, to each their own. :smile:

The point was not to be scientifically real, this just a result of my playing with Celestia.

Well, like I said, to each their own. You customize your Celestia however you like.

Part of the reason I made this was just to have all of the exoplanet textures in one confined spot.

Cool, sounds like an interesting way to test textures in Celestia.

Yes it is.

In my version, I modified the barycenter to be in orbit around Alpha Centauri A, so as not to interfere with the regular solar system.

I had just put it around the sun do it would not be in a different galaxy.

Update for the addon: I removed Titan, Earth I, Ganymede, and Exo Habital because I felt they were really unnecessary.

Ganymede and Titan were in that system for the purpose of testing if they would produce eclipses on the planets. It didn't work.

Added after 58 seconds:
I am working on a little more scientifically accurate version of the system.

Also, what was the purpose of Earth I and Exo Habital?

To be habitable moons, I just never set their definitions to be “Sol/Barycenter”. And to make some good screen savers for my laptop.

I also have repurposed Titan and Ganymede to be better representations of moons orbiting the man barycenter.

Also, what kind of object would you like to see in system?

Oh. Also, I would like to see some asteroids around the barycenter. I also added a ring around the brown dwarf (which doesn't make sense, I know) because if all the others had rings, then maybe it should have rings too.

Which ring file, Saturn’s, Uranus’, or Neptune’s?

Well, actually, I took the ring texture from this addon: http://celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/show_addon_details.php?addon_id=1582

I'm adding my gas giants into the addon!

Also, here's my code for the brown dwarf rings.

Code: Select all

   Rings {
      Inner   163482
      Outer  203743
      Texture "JupiterRings.png"
   }

Thanks.

The Brown Dwarf looks better with the rings.

I was a little reluctant at first to put the ring around the brown dwarf because I thought it wouldn't make sense.
