I just saw a web advertisement for "3D Astronomer", which is a commercial release of Celestia. They've gathered lots of add-ons and other important content. I suppose they provide tech support.

$49 and apparently Windows-only.

They certainly acknowledge that it's Celestia, which you can download for free. For their distribution, though, it's $49.

Actually,Celestia was sold here in Brazil in big magazines,but now it misteriouly disappear...
But anyway,what the comercial use of Celestia has to be with the add-on releases sub-forum?

So what is different with this compared to the free Celestia? Besides the addons that is.

Just in case someone wants to write a little "love" letter to John Bayer. For instance complaining that the source code and the COPYRIGHTS to "The Celestia Development Team" are not made available with EVERY sold/downloaded copy of the 3DAstronomer software. Or that some add-ons are released under more restrictive licenses...

As I know GPL license allow commercial usage if modified source code are available, and yes, i can't find any src at 3dastronomer. com
