Hey guys... XYXV-file for OSIRIS-REx journey is ready... let's prepare model of this spacecraft for an add-on... I will do SSC file too...

( The OSIRIS-REx (Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security, Regolith Explorer) is a NASA asteroid study and sample-return mission. Launched on 8 September 2016, its mission is to study asteroid 101955 Bennu, a carbonaceous asteroid, and return a sample to Earth on 24 September 2023 for detailed analysis. The material returned is expected to enable scientists to learn more about the formation and evolution of the Solar System, its initial stages of planet formation, and the source of organic compounds that led to the formation of life on Earth. If successful, OSIRIS-REx will be the first U.S. spacecraft to return samples from an asteroid. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSIRIS-REx )

Hi Toutatis.
I just tested your TESS model, very nice, but it has a bit cahotic rotation.
So I checked the ssc file, and I found that Orientation is "[ 250 1 0 0 ]" instead of "270 1 0 0" that produces a rotation around TESS longitudinal axis.
What is the correct axis angle, 250 or 270?
Just in doubt.
Thank you anyway for your work, very appreciated.
Bye

hello Toutatis,

thank you for explications but Suddenly, my head hurts !

Added after 54 minutes 52 seconds:
spacecraft for Celestia
I retrieved the 3D file for TDRS 11, geostationary communication satellite from NASA
TDRS 12 and TDRS 13 are from the same generation
I also have Norad data but not semimajoraxis and as it is a geostationary satellite, it must be special.

Hi Goofy... well, If you think that Orientation [270 1 0 0] is better then let's use this parameter... I still not professional in making SSC files and 3d models... I'm just trying to learn it more to make add-ons for Celestia better... Astronomy at my heart from childhood but I use Celestia only several months... and I like too much this 3d simulator...

Thanks for this add-on Gironde... I will see if there is some mistakes...   ... Let's make more and more 3d models and spacecrafts add-ons for this great 3d simulator called Celestia...

Hi Toutatis.
After checking a bit on Goddard pages, I found that the right solution is that it should not rotate.
It's an imaging satellite, so it must be fixed along its orbit, not rotating, to obtain not-blurred exposures.
So I think orientation shoud be 0, but I'm not sure at all.
Ready to change my opinion, anyway.
Bye.

Hello,

I finished the TDRS 11 series at TDRS 13 (3rd generation).
I found the missing information on N2YO.com (real time database with positioning on the map)

:hi:

Added after 7 hours 31 minutes:
TDRS update

In this new pack, you will find the 12 TDRS satellites still active. Number 2 was destroyed 71 seconds after the launch.
The first generation of 1 to 7 uses another model because these satellites were slightly different, but the 3D file contains an error that prevents texting or texturing the inner part of the 4 satellite paraboles (the area has not been vectorized). Made that from the inside side the surface is transparent.
My previous file tdrs11-13.ssc is returned in this package under the name tdrs11-12-13.ssc

Hi guys... Okay I can see that work with spacecrafts is continues... great!... Thanks... I got lot of work these days but I made this... TDRS 3.. 5.. 7.. 10... 12.. TDRS satellites with a big antennas, so I use this model ( modified it a bit ) 5 geostationary satellites... need only change Orientation for the each models... I hope you can...

Hello guy,

Both, toutatis and me have worked on the TDRS satellites series. It turns out that in all 3D files we found, something is missing.
Does anyone having practice in 3D software can put everything in order: add textures, add antennas, ...

In the archive, attached, you will find the different files used.

Thank you
:hi:

Waiting for 3D modifications of TDRS, here is another satellite that should please our Russian friends: Kosmos 2237 model Tselina-2

Added after 5 minutes 3 seconds:
Tselina satellites were and may still be Soviet and then Russian military satellites with a mission of espionage communications.

Oh! That existed?

in Celestia

Added after 5 minutes 50 seconds:
hello Toutatis,

In Blender, there are menus in every corner. There is something to tear your hair out. I have other software but in those there is no way to add another 3D file to a 1st (eg antennas) or add textures.

 :fie: :nervious:

Hey Gironde... Thanks a lot for COSMOS 2237 !

Try Wings 3D... I use it often

Gironde... in COSMOS 2237 SSC file... TLE DATA from NORAD gives the orbital elements for the Earth Mean Equator... not for Ecliptic... so there in SSC file no need to write Orbit frame... Celestia will use the Earth Mean Equator by default...

Added after 3 minutes 50 seconds:
Use this...

new addons : Jason-1 Jason-2 Jason-3

:hi:

Added after 1 hour 21 minutes:
Toutatis,

you may have noticed that some .fbx 3D files trigger an error when converting or importing into 3D software.
This is due to their .fbx file version (version 6 or 6.1)
use the free Autodesk FBX converter software. It transforms the file from version 6 to version 7.1 used among other things in Blender.
