Note that:
The carrier rocket Epsilon-1 really stands on Earth. Evidence of this is the presence of a compass on the control panel "Autopilot"
the rocket is set to the vertical position with the [0°0°] button

What you are saying is interresting. We will have to study this and understand why I can not see the orientation correctly on site.

As there is no ground marker on the launch site, I try to base myself on the horizon of the landscape. This horizon can be distant and there is the curvature of the Earth on the x and y axes. It is perhaps that which deceives me!
For Proton M, I had the landmarks of the Baikonour launch tower.

Gironde, compare the position of the Earth with the included equatorial grid and the position of the rocket. The rocket is installed vertically, and the Earth's axis has an inclination to the plane of the orbit ...

The Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS), also called Explorer 94, is a NASA solar observation satellite. The mission was funded through the Small Explorer program to investigate the physical conditions of the solar limb, particularly the chromosphere of the Sun. The spacecraft consists of a satellite bus and spectrometer built by the Lockheed Martin Solar and Astrophysics Laboratory (LMSAL), and a telescope provided by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. I think that in Celestia, you have to call it IRIS (sat) so as not to confuse it with Iris: 7 Iris: 1847-7 in the search area.

IRIS (sat) is better aligned in the direction of the Sun with:
Orientation [120 1 0 0] but not quite.

Maybe the original model is misaligned with respect to the z axis.

With the .cmod file, we can no longer intervene with Blender.


In the picture of wikipedia, the telescope is on the z axis.

Is it possible ?

Well, this is model when you don't use "Orientation" in SSC-file... watch in the picture...

So if you want the model oriented well to the sun always, it's better to use "BodyFrame"...

With this SSC-file... IRIS(sat) will oriented well... but I made rotation with period ( 0.1)... If you not want rotation around Z-axis... you can use Period zero....(0.0)

Approximately 1 minute and 17 seconds later, the Orion 50S motor burns out. The vehicle is at over 200,000 feet (61 km) in altitude and hypersonic speed. The first stage falls away, taking the wing and tail surfaces, and the second stage ignites.

All SSC- file for rocket-vehicles I made, is just for testing... just to see what the models of these rockets looks like...
Sure, even children knows which parts of rockets can reach the earth's orbit.... :smile: :smile: :smile:

I am sure that when we will end a work with the models of the launch complexes we will put all the rocket models to there...
I also have a files of the aircraft L-1011 Stargazer in .mesh... So no problem with Pegasus XL too...

Gironde, Thanks for the link... I made add-on with the part of the orbit for OSIRIS-REx,, this orbit shows the entire path of the spacecraft to the asteroid Bennu and back to the Earth... when we will get a new data from NASA we can continue work with OSIRIS-REx add-on...

Texture for the 1 stage of Pegasus XL I made by myself.... because original texture with a not correct American flag (it is about stars)... too bad I did not found the picture of the Pegasus logo (usually it is on the fairing), so I used original texture for it, which with some small problem... Part of thextures for the Delta-4Heavy ( with logo NASA, ULA) I also made by myself...

Today (soon) I will prepare the orbit with "timeline" for 101955 Bennu... otherwise OSIRIS-REx will never reach the goal of the mission in the Celestia space... :biggrin:

Here the new orbits for the asteroids Bennu and Ryugu... SSC and XYZV-files... ( SSC-file for Ryugu was corrected )... and in the pictures below you can see OSIRIS-REx spacecraft and Bennu with this orbit of asteroid... But! You need to know that still no one know the real diameter of Bennu... and sure, spacecraft will make a correction of their trajectory during this mission... we will see later...
