Yet Blender looks very good. I found that Blender exports in 3DS (and others) but never the included textures.

Gironde... try with Wings 3D... I made my first satellite 3D model with this software... and it export textures and other things... in 3ds as well...

Added after 2 minutes 18 seconds:
Gipparcos model can be created with Wings 3D easy... with textures... I am sure..

just finished work with WFIRST (Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope) model by NASA... this is ready for Celestia now...

I have modified TESS model... even the engine was changed... now, you can experiment with a textures as you want... I added more oppertunities for it...
