Hi Gironde and Croc.
As you told, the compared dimensions between N-1 launch Pad and Proton-M rocket are wrong, so I tried a simple solution, i.e. I modified the Proton-M radius, and at the same time I increased the height above ground, to compensate for increased size.
This was simple, just two lines to change in Proton M-Pad.ssc file:
Code: Select all
Radius 0.0540 # 0.0265 haut.russia 58.2m hat.frensh 57m hauteur 53m diam 4m10
LongLat [ 63.31027 45.79527 0.040 ] # [ 63.31027 45.79527 0.007 ]
Here the result:
![1- Proton corrected height.jpg (146.71 KiB) Viewed 9127 times 1- Proton corrected height.jpg](./download/file.php?id=2505&t=1&filename=1-+Proton+corrected+height.jpg&sid=d9b6cda1b3195c8848008f178267952e)
- Dimension tuning between N-1 Launch Tower and Proton-M rocket
But, alas, We have another problem: the Proton-M model has wrong dimensions, i.e. it's too "slim".
If you take a look at the second image,
![2-Wrong dimensions.jpg (305.14 KiB) Viewed 9127 times 2-Wrong dimensions.jpg](./download/file.php?id=2506&t=1&filename=2-Wrong+dimensions.jpg&sid=d9b6cda1b3195c8848008f178267952e)
- Proton-M model wrong dimensions
you find in #1 the image of the real machine, in #2 the model with same height, and in image #3 the comparison, with the stage A equal length/diameter.
As you see the problem is in the second stage, about 30% longer than the real one.
And moreover, as shown in image #3,
![3-Transparent junction.jpg (10.05 KiB) Viewed 9127 times 3-Transparent junction.jpg](./download/file.php?id=2507&t=1&filename=3-Transparent+junction.jpg&sid=d9b6cda1b3195c8848008f178267952e)
- Transparent junction between stage 2 and 3
the junction between second and third stage is transparent, with a look to the inside (why red?

).
Sorry for this, but the model is not real, IMHO, so I suggest not to include it in Celestia next release.
My opinion, obviously.
Bye.
Goofy
