Much to my frustration, a new paper updating numerous RV multi-planet systems has not followed the discovery-order naming convention for the planets at HD 93385 and HD 96700. The names of the planets and the discovery-order standard has been upheld in this update, subject to change if the NASA Exoplanet Archive makes a ruling on this.
The programme I use to write this does not handle free-floating planets, pending some hoped-for future update of Celestia. Nonetheless, the planetary-mass binary system 2MASS J11193254–1137466 may host a super-earth sized transiting "moon." I've added it as a binary brown dwarf system with a transiting "planet" for now. This may be changed in the future.
01 September 2021
- 241 TESS candidate planets added (TOI-4180 through TOI-4425).

There's a new paper presenting hundreds of new Kepler-K2 candidates, of which "366 have not been previously identified." This has proven to be quite a bit of work to incorporate into this catalogue thusfar, since many of the EPIC identifiers that I don't have are previously-identified eclipsing binaries. On top of that some of the stars' parameters are weird. I'll need to go through this system-by-system to see which are appropriate to be added to the unconfirmed planets .ssc file. As a result, they are not included here, and will be added later.

I have put off working on unconfirmed planets for now, including those from TESS. Life has gotten somewhat busy and I need to rework the way the programme I use for this handles multi-stellar systems. That being said, I have kept on top of confirmed planetary systems and the updates to them.

what caused this orbit inclination madness, normaly all planets orbit on the same general plane (there is some inclination in the planet's orbits, like how mercury's orbit is a bit inclined)?Sirius_Alpha wrote:HD 3167 - a system of non-coplanar super-Earths/Neptunes.
There is a limit to how far we can travel into the stars.

Jeong, et al. reported the possible presence of giant planets orbiting the three K-type giant stars HD 19615, HD 150010 and HD 174205, but noted there is some pretty good reason to be cautious about these claims. I have included them here as unconfirmed.
A pair of transiting planets at KOI-4772 were confirmed but given the already-assigned identifier of Kepler-1705. Rather than have two Kepler-1705's, I've left this second system as just KOI-4772 and will wait until something more official (such as the NASA Exoplanet Archive) arbitrates the naming conflict. Furthermore, in Valizadegan, et al.'s new confirmation of numerous Kepler candidates assigns the identifier "Kepler-1803 b" to KOI-7892.01, though KOI-7892 has already been assigned the identifier "Kepler-457," and it's two previousy confirmed planets (.02 and .03) have already assigned "b" and "c" so there's a bit of a naming dispute here as well that may get resolved soon. I contacted Valizadegan about this and they informed me that the names were provided to them by NExSci, so the problem may be on NExSci's end.

Make sure you have only one version of the exoplanet catalog. This includes the one that comes with Celestia by default (extrasolar.stc & extrasolar.ssc); you need to either remove it, or disable it by editing celestia.cfg.
(If you want to see an actual double planet, check out 2MASS J11193254–1137466 aka TWA 42, which also has a candidate exomoon.)

It is in Celestia. Look again. It orbits 2MASS J11193254–113746 A.

I finally figured out how to make the duplicate HD identifiers go away while preserving the architecture of the stellar system (i.e., before, Star B would orbit Star A rather than the barycenter for some systems without explicitly defining the HD identifiers of system components). And in order to make it compatible with Celestia's standards, I've promoted the IAU-given "formal name" to the front of the declaration line (gross! but it's trivial to have a setting to turn that off for my personal use...). My apologies for being so late in fixing the duplicate HD thing - life has been horrendously complicated the few months and I just haven't had as much time as I would like to sink into messing around with my code. I would like to eventually get away from declaring orbits for wide-binary stars based just on their position angle and separation, but that may take a rewrite of the programme.
Furthermore, stars that are only host to unconfirmed planets are now separated out into a separate stc file. There are now four files: extrasolar.ssc for the confirmed planets, extrasolar_unconfirmed.ssc for the unconfirmed planets, extrasolar.stc for the stars that either have confirmed planets or have transiting brown dwarfs, and finally extrasolar_unconfirmed.stc for stars that only have unconfirmed planets. Because these names are different to those of the original files, you will need to explicitly delete the old version of the addon to avoid conflict.

So it turns out this has introduced a new problem for circumbinary planets in orbits around barycenters with HD primary identifiers (for example HD 106906). I did not have time to fix this yet, so it remains unfixed in here as well.Sirius_Alpha wrote:I finally figured out how to make the duplicate HD identifiers go away while preserving the architecture of the stellar system
A second plausible exomoon candidate has been found at Kepler-1708 b. Since we now have two (two!) candidate exomoons that follow the same naming scheme, I've standardized the naming of the exomoons to follow that pattern (including the questionable candidate at WASP-49 Ab).
Since apparently this is a thing that is now being measured, tidally deformed ultra-short-period planets are now shown in Celestia with SemiAxes tags in their .ssc files. The affected planets are Kepler-974c, K2-229b, K2-106b, and K2-137b, for which modelling by Price (2019) produced simple aspect ratios for these planets. Additionally, CHEOPS has measured the tidal deformation of WASP-130b and measured it's fluid Love number, which I then used the formulation in Correia (2014) to turn into SemiAxes for use in the .ssc file.
A lot of the recent TESS planet candidates from this month are re-detections of Kepler-K2 candidates, showing clearly how deep we are into the mission's ecliptic campaign.

can't wait until the day there are 20000 exoplanets in the catalog (counting unconfirmed ones btw)
Added after 58 seconds:
that would be one long load for celestia, this should be turned into a .dat file future celestia versions can read and will load (the only current dat celestia can load is stars.dat)

Gaia DR3 has been released. With it the detection of numerous planet candidates from a variety of methods: transit, Doppler spectroscopy, and astrometry. Systems detected by these methods received the identifiers Gaia-TROI-n, Gaia-RVOI-n and Gaia-ASOI-n, respectively. Oddly, a couple planets discovered by doppler spectroscopy that have been detected in Gaia DR3 have been assigned more than one Gaia-ASOI-n identifier (HD 142, ι Hor).
