Huge but not huge by galactic standards. In reality, the total number of stars in Celestia is but 0.005% of all the stars in the Milky Way. But that is justifiable because of Celestia's graphics-loading powers being not as heavy as other planetarium software like Gaia Sky, SpaceEngine, etc. One of the ways this could be solved is through modularization of certain groups of stars and star catalogs so that Celestia can have all the stars of the Milky Way without being overloaded due to their simultaneous presentation.

Of course in the human context, 2 million is already an impressive number by itself, so I'm glad you appreciate it. Indeed, all thanks to the Celestia Development Team, the Celestia Origin Team and all contributors for making Celestia great as it is, and preventing it from being wiped off the face of people

It's actually an addon from the Celestia Motherlode that I found a long time ago. The asterisms change scripts is written in CELX, so I'm not sure if the LUT can properly do that. Still, it can be worth a try.
