Shadow-Dragon-777's addons

Post #1by Shadow-Dragon-777 » 19.03.2022, 01:28

Decided to start a topic for my addons because they will eventually number many.

I am currently working on my Grand Tour project which uses maps created by scientists to accurately map as much of the solar system in detail up to 64K when possible.

You can check out my Titan project HERE which adds 64K textures, 16K specular, 2K bump, and 8K clouds to Titan.

Project for the other moons of Saturn and its rings HERE Which adds 16K overlays to the medium moons and rings and adds textures to a couple smaller ones too.

Project for the satellites of the Ice Giants HERE Which adds never before combined maximum possible resolution and coverage to the satellites of Uranus and enhances Triton.

Project for Ceres HERE

Project for Pluto HERE

There is probably a better high resolution mapping of Ceres due to the fact that Dawn spacecraft has was in its orbit between 2015 and 2018, in low orbits 200 km-1000 km. This allowed the mapping of Ceres in high resolution. As for Pluto, New Horizons spacecraft made just one quick flyby on July 14, 2015, 12,500 km away. And due to such a tilt of Pluto, even a part was not mapped, which was on the dark side.

darkside was mapped my new horizons (a part of it) charonshine on pluto

and the rest of the darkside was mapped by hubble before new horizons

The point, trappistplanets, is that New Horizons did not cover Pluto anywhere near as well as Dawn covered Ceres.

There has been an update to my Titan addon.
I have added an 8K Cloud texture that replaces the janky default one.
I have also fixed a typo in the bumpmap code. I accidentally put in the value of the difference of the elevation extremes without dividing by 2, this lead to abnormally long shadows on the bumpmap. This is now fixed.

Models of Nix and Hydra. I may or may not do a project down the line to add models, problem with models is you have to size them, orientate them, and convert them.

I have uploaded a beta release of the Grand Tour Venus which only has the 4K clouds and 64K surface. The rest will be added later. I may not be able to work on projects for a while because of hurricane Ian.
There will also be a release of Ceres and Pluto/Charon as separate addons down the road due to popular demand.
