Hi Dave, because the mass of Kepler-1653 is 5.35 Earths i guess is a tidally locked ocean planet

DaveBowman2001 wrote:Kepler-1544 b is no ocean world, but a gaseous mini-neptune

Perhaps a hycean planet with a tiny atmosphere of helium or hydrogen around a water sea, so weird because mass of Kepler-1544 is around 3.82 Earths and 1.78 Earth radii ? Do you know or remember the name of some paper about subsequent analysis?

If anything, the descriptions should be flipped - Kepler-1653b is about 2.17 Earth radii, so is certainly not rocky but a mini-Neptune or ocean world, while Kepler-1544b is about 1.79 Earth radii, so it could very well be an ocean world or might even be rocky. Since the masses of both planets are unknown, we don't yet know their true compositions. The Fulton gap makes a good rule of thumb here - planets smaller than 1.5 Earth radii are usually rocky, while planets larger than 2 Earth radii are almost never rocky.

Please don't use NASA's exoplanet catalog as a data source, since it fills in unknown masses and radii with estimates from a mass-radius relationship, and doesn't make this clear. Instead, use the original source, the NASA Exoplanet Archive.

K2-288
Larger-than-Earth planet orbiting the secondary star of a red-dwarf binary

K2-288 B b with K2-288 A in the background

K2-288 is a binary comprised of two red dwarfs located about 316.3 lightyears away from the solar system. The secondary star hosts a sub-Neptune sized planet (1.9 Earth Radii) orbiting within its habitable zone. There have been no mass measurements of this planet and with its size, it teeters on the edge between being rocky, oceanic, or gaseous. This addon features a rocky and oceanic composition as different surfaces for the planet.
