Kepler-90

Post #1by SpaceFanatic64 » 21.12.2018, 19:10

Here, I will be posting any addons that I have made. Stay tuned for some addons that I worked really hard on!

Added after 9 minutes 52 seconds:
My version of the Kepler-90 system. Textures were taken from fungun and Fugazi's Star Trek addons from the Celestia Motherlode, and the star data was from Wikipedia and the exoplanet orbits were from exoplanet.eu.

SpaceFanatic64, your coordinates are a bit off. To calculate the RA and Dec, you can use a converter (I recommend http://www.astrouw.edu.pl/~jskowron/ra-dec/, since it's very flexible).

For example, for Kepler-90 just enter "18 57 44.0384 +49 18 18.4958" and pick the eleventh option, so that's "284.4334933" and "49.3051377".

Oh, I just didn't know how to convert RA and Dec. I'll update the addon to have the right coordinates.

I am not convinced by this conversion site. See the results for:
-18: 04: 20.99 (hh: mm: ss.ss)
result
-18: 04: 02.00 01: 00: 00.00
-18 04 02.00 01 00 00.00
-18: 04: 02.00, 01: 00: 00.00
-18.0672222 1.0000000
-18h 04m 02.00s 01d 00m 00.00s
-18h04m02.00s 01d00m00.00s
-18h04m02.00s 01 ° 00'00.00 "
J-180402.00 010000.00 +

for convert RA hh:mm:ss.ss in decimal degres :
Abs (hh*15+mm*0.25+ss*0.0041666) * +1 or -1 (according to the sign)

and DEC degres dd:mn:ss in decimal degres:
Abs (dd+mn/60+ss/3600) * +1 or -1 (according to the sign)

and parsec (pc) to ly : pc*3.2616
ly to pc : ly/3.2616

Radius in Rsol to km : 696342*Rsol
Radius in Rearth to km : 6378.1*Rearth
Radius in Rjup to km : 71492*Rjup

Period Day in Period Year : Period D/365.2425

gironde, Good catch. It seems that the site has a problem when it only converts the right ascension. However, if you enter in both the right ascension and the declination, the problem disappears.

Finally, the update for Kepler-90. Replace RA and Dec in the .stc with these following lines: RA 284.4334933 and Dec 49.3051377.

Sorry for not being here in a while. I've been busy with school, so I won't make addons all the time, but I will make them once in a while
