Post #1by Fightspit » 22.07.2006, 09:06

Here the two screenshots (warning big size) :

It is impossible to select different reder path (Ctrl + V) because of the f***ing Micro$oft default Ati driver even if I try to update it but it is an old official beta ati driver !!! :evil:
Finally, Celestia may works "perfectelly" under windows vista . :)

There are also problems when using a NVDIA card (N6600) ,
I loaded the latest NVIDIA Vista drivers and all I get is openGL 1.4 support.
Also the earth-texture has some strange stripes and fonts are to closely spaced .

I didn't try the 64 bit version , any experience about performance
using 32-bit celestia .

Perhaps these are reasons not to upgrade (downgrade?) to Windows Vista.

These are, of course, OpenGL driver issues. You need to report the problems to Nvidia.

latest news: Vista will offer native openGL support:

see:

not sure whether I can allready download such an ICD driver.
According to the developement team openGL will even have a higher performance then DirectX .
We'll have to wait and see.

I discovered that Vista (32 bit) can accept driver for Windows XP and now I can use several render path like Opengl 2.0 but I lost several Windows Vista effect but it is not important for me (look the difference of the differennce of the two windows about transparency ...):

Thanks, but I already try it and the "Opengl Info" still the same except the name of driver "Ati technology" instead of "Microsoft Corporation".
Moreover, the Ati driver (May) is older than microsoft driver (june) and it is possible that Microsoft has included the Ati driver in the OS (Windows Vista), no ?
