I don't understand: Celestia's 10000+ galaxies (in 1.4.1) are all colored!?

and what? The colors are taken from actual true color photographs by the hubble telescope. And the present scheme renders 10000+ galaxies, i.e. the /complete/ revised NGC/IC catalog! Not just 3,4 or perhaps 10 galaxies.

So an automatic coloration using /strictly/ catalog data is unavoidable.

Actually the present state of the art looks like this:

Most people would find this quite satisfactory, given that we can render /correctly/ size, shape (hubble class), spacial orientation, coloration of > 10000 galaxies /very fast/.
