Maybe it has been asked before butt:

now that we we have such beautifull textures I was wondering whether
it is possible the detemine the lateral scale of the whole viewable window area (or distance between markers) in meters,
maybe using a script ??
I then would be able to find the distance between for instance
Arsia Mons and Pavonis Mons,assuming the Mars curvature is neglectible
for this small distance.
