I just upgraded to Celestia 1.4.0 using Gentoo's emerge command. I found that there are now far fewer pull-down menus and right-click menus. In particular, I can't see the Alternative Surfaces submenu any more when I right-click on Earth. Is my installation b0rked, or is there a secret that I need to know?
