Comments on the CML

Hi folks,
as a volunteer of the CML I have a request concerning the comments at the details page of add-ons on the Celestia Motherlode.

Please do not ask questions like "How can I do this and that", "How do I install...", "I can't see this or that" and similar.

The comments should be comments about the quality of the add-on! This is not a help desk or a question board. Please do not misuse the comments.

We have deleted (and will delete) such incoming non comments.

If you have questions about the add-on (e.g. install or display problems), please contact the author. Just click the author's name and see if there is an e-mail adress or website of the author (with an email adress). If not, just ask your question here in the forums.

Will you do us this simple favour?
Thank you in advance! :!:

Hm... I am pretty sure most of the Motherlode users have never visited this board... So the question is if one should refer them here from there, or have a Q&A forum there - which might probably be best.

I do agree with Runar. And advise on the comments entry page (kind: "for any problem with the addons, do not use the comments, better contact the author please") would be welcome to avoid (in part) this little problem...

This is also a bit annoying because technicaly all the addons proposed by the ML should run under whatever platform, this mean they should pass a complete test by the ML team, including a work on the readme files with the author if necessary until the addon is ok for public realease...
But... yes I know, this is a hard/long control task an the ML team cannot afford this actually :?

Runar,

as you know, we already discussed this issue. But for serveral reasons we are not able to do so right now.

ElChristou,

You are welcome to do the job!

Why do I knew you will do this kind of remark?

Seriously, if I could I would do this, but after all I think I must use my spare time on models, no? (even if for now I don't have any... :? )

Why not eliminate the comments section from the ML? We have a basic idea of what's there when someone posts under the addons section here. Is there a ranking (like # of stars or 5/10) or times downloaded module that could just be added for the ML files? That might give new users an idea of whats what... And, just to create more work, the other things I have always wanted at the ML was the ability to see files listed by date and a line item on the details page for the version the addon requires.

Yes, i know... Just wanted to point out that your announcement here probably won??t reach the majority of the ML visitors.
