Here's an Idea/Challenge for someone. Re-create the Star Trek universe in Celestia.

I'm sure many of you all have thought about it already. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it!

There are interesting projects going on at the moment, including http://www.spacesimulator.net, http://www.parsec.org, and a few other space sim projects that would be easy for me to locate on the net... oh just thought of another one, The X Projects (http://www.egosoft.com).

Man, would make for one really freaking awesome online trading/rpg/adventure game!

ALSO! Can/does Celestia sync with the current time and date, so that you can see planets/stars/etc. as they are "right now" in relation to each other?

Ack! I'm excited!

Last question (Unix version of Celestia): How do you make Celestia Fullscreen or change it's resolution? Right now it's 640x480 in a window on my desktop and I need fullscreen!

Yes, it is after all a solar system simulator.

When you start up Celestia, the time is always set to the current time and date. If you select "Set Time" from the Time menu, you can set the time and date to anything you'd like, though the positions of the planets aren't that accurate for dates far in the past or future.

Star Trek Idea?

As far as a suggestion or maybe an idea....

I noticed the planets, and satellites (MIR, etc.) are in 3ds format. Would that mean other 3ds objects, i.e., ships, could be imported as well?

I have several Star Trek ships in 3DS format that I'd like to place in orbit around Earth for images...

Is this possible, and if it is, how would you set coordinates for the placement and size of the ship?

(really excited by this program!)
