Hey folks! :D I wonder if n e one can tell me if stars can be installed into other galaxies besides Milky Way? IF so, how?

You mean by addons?

I don't think that is possible right now, but I may be wrong.

There's currently a distance limit beyond which stars can't be placed (16,000 ly from Sol), so you can't place stars in other galaxies.

There are ways to get around this, but they'd have to be coded into Celestia itself. Maybe it's on the list of things to do for the developers, but given that we know very little about specific stars in other galaxies - and that most of these distant stars that people want to place are fictional - I'm not sure it's a high priority.

I think we should worry about finding all the stars in our own galaxy first!

You must own an amazing computer! We have just managed to render 10000+ NGC/IC galaxies in Celestia-FT1.2 => official Celestia-1.4.0pre8 (soon). So you want to render in each of these all the millions of stars with coordinate calculations and all that....!?

Ahem...

Gradius,

I think you'll find that people here are overall very nice. Probably the neg's you are getting are a result of the fact that what you want is just a little too grand. And whether you realizing it or not, you are in effect reflecting celestia in the negative light of what it can never be. People have put a tremendous amount of hard working into making it do what is currently possible. What you are asking is so many orders of magnitude larger, that it belittles the work people have already done. Naturally you don't intend it this way, it's just how it can come across.

cheers,
Walton

I see your point. Any ways, you can't really take me seriously a lot, most of the time when i talk about things like that, it's just a dreamers question, not an actual request. Sorry if I caused any confusion in the past.
