We just bought the program (thank goodness for school discounts!), and being so used to Paintshop Pro, I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to do things. Many itmes are similar enough to PSP, but many more are quite different.
I have Spaceman Spiff's mini-tutorial on how to make good cloud maps. Is there one available for Photoshop?

One word, NO!
Photoshop for some dumb reason just doesn't handle layer masks like PaintShop Pro of GIMP. A major drawback for the program. If it does it is done in such a strange way as to be imposible to figure out. Although I did find a free plug-in that could remove the color black from a cloudmap fairly close to how it works in PaintShop Pro. But there is no way to turn the resulting texture into nice puffy white clouds unless you edit the image in something else. And if you have to do that you might as well just use the other program from the start. It was thanks to Spiff's totorial that I have almost totaly moved over to useing PaintShop Pro cloud creation. Its fast and more effient than GIMP. But I stilluse Gimp for bumpmaping.

Crap.
I had this deep sinking feeling when I couldn't find any obvious way to manipulate the histogram. And I was so hoping not to have to install more than one art program. It almost makes me want to commision a set of reusable cloud textures for different styles of planets. Of course, one needs something to offer in order to commission anything....
Thanks for the answer, Don. The cloud maps that I've managed to make in PSP may not be the best, but they at least look like something. I guess I'll have to install it next week.
