Hello. New here :)

Just wanted to pop in and say that I am amazed with celestia! How long has this project been in development?

I printed off the main page for my 12 year old to take to his science teacher tomorow.

Thanks! I loook forward to furthering myself into this. :D

Crumbut?

Welcome to the Universe. Tell your 12-year old's science teacher to get
in touch with fsgregs (Frank Gregorio) here.

Frank has developed some really outstanding educational activities for use
in Celestia by teachers. No better way in the world to get kids excited about
science...

Welcome!

You might wanna let your son join these forums too. People of all ages here (I'm 13 :D ). Might learn something new here (I do).

Also don't forget to try downloading stuff from the Motherlode. Lots of awesome addons, galaxies, nebulae, sci-fi planets, new textures for the solar system (including solar flares for our sun), spacecraft, etc.

After you explore a bit try making your own solar systems and textures.

Again, welcome! 8)

A world without Monty Python, gnomes, news crews that make a big deal out of a celebrity breathing, Star Trek, & Coca-Cola? That is impossible! IMPOSSIBLE!
