hi all but due to Microsoft
( this is what i think ---sjkd2e856`h##&&##@#VF---)

my web site will be no more , or at least not the same
After rewrighting php code to add a link to the motherload mirror I was all set to ftp updated maps and have old files removed at
http://celestiamotherlode.net/creators/johnvanvliet/
BUT MicroSHIT decided to kill raw tcp -ie filzilla is broke . That is until i hack the sys registory and some sys files to fix this
them i am doing a dual boot to linux
I HATE BILL GATES!!!

so the up shot of all this is the site will not be rebuilt
and the celestiamotherlode.net/creators file will be up dated once i fix this

John,
I'm not sure if I read your post correctly but, have you tried ACE FREE FTP at:
http://software.visicommedia.com/en/products/aceftpfreeware/

It works wonders for me, easy to use too.

are you using win xp service pack two
because ms made a change to tcp rpc that involves ftp -what a mess -
see http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodte ... .mspx#EHAA
and this
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/commun ... us&m=1&p=1
and
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897656/

Code: Select all

Traffic over raw sockets is also restricted in Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2. For more information about this restriction, see the "Restricted traffic over raw sockets" section of the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/sp2netwk.mspx#EHAA (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/sp2netwk.mspx#EHAA)
If you frequently use tools that send packets over raw sockets, we suggest that you use Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Windows Server 2003 does not restrict traffic over raw sockets.

this is MS's fix --ha ha --

well i just got an mail from Joe Bolte
and the up shot is aparently it dose work BUT I get an error saing that 0 byts are transferd so i gess one of the fixex worked some what ( but not much)

Windows Service Pack 2

Yeah, I have service pack 2. I think that's what screwed up my other FTP program (the one I paid for). It started corrupting all image uploads. I now use ACE FTP freeware for my image uploads. So far, it works fantastic! Even 20MB files with no corruption. I can still use my other FTP program, just not for images.
