I was looking at Celestia's guts
(shaders and Data folder)
and was interested in learning
if a stars brightness was as toggable
as most add-ons coordinates and such.
(Does this make sense?)
Is there a way to turn star brightness down?

Only The Lord can turn star brightness down to fit your needs

What Celestia can do is rather to lower the observer's sensitivity to star light. That however cuts down on the maximal visible magnitude. Just try it out: the key [ lowers while ] rises the sensitivity. There are some differences in the behaviour depending on whether automag (CTRL+y) is ON or OFF.
Another possible variation of /effective/ star brightness comes through pushing CTRL+s repeatedly...
But since you surely have studied and learned by heart ALL Celestia shortcut keys I am just boring you...

Thanks.

But I meant modifying the source code or something.
