TourqeGlare: Im sorry to say this but you have to pick one screenshot that you want to submit from your screenshots. I can only limit one. becuase they were some problems with the voting poll that it allow only 10 people with their screenshot and its also not fair. please make a descision on what you want to keep. you can make you own topic of your gallery. sorry about that bud. you didnt know the rules and I Understand. it was my fault that I didnt include the link.

Have fun

PS: That character that you have on your avatar is Blackfire. Starfire's sister from Teen Titans.

I am quite fond of this image; it shows the AMT Dutchmann in a domed museum on asteroid Brost near the sun; this is part of John Dollan's Arcbuilders universe, but I made the model to John's designs.
Asteroid Brost is available from the Motherlode, but the Dutchmann is not (yet)

I noticed that most contenders seem to ignore how one has to set the
parameters to save a 1024x768 JPG in good quality! Have a look at
ElChristou's image. He is a Pro and thus obviously knows how to do it.

In most of the other images e.g. the text is barely readable anymore.
If you'd try to understand how JPG is organized and what may be
adjusted (besides the quality factor) you'd be surprised about the
differences.

Since JPG is a /lossy/ format one should always compose the image in
a lossless one and convert to JPG only at the very end.

NEVER,never scale a JPG format down! Always do your Celestia
screendump in PNG format, finish your image, scale it with the
best , i.e cubic (GIMP) or Bicubic (PS) interpolation down to
1024x768 and FINALLY convert it to JPG with the settings as
illustrated below.

This just an observation, but otherwise I want to stay out of this...

Bye Fridger

PS:

Here is the JPG saving dialog of GIMP, for example:
Just have a look how well the rather small text is readable in my JPG
here as compared to what one can see above...
Image

1) the quality factor should be about 85% (instead of the default 75%)

2) Subsampling should be 1x1,1x1,1x1, instead of the default 2x2,1x1,1x1!
This is VERY important for text readability!!!

3) DCT method should be floating point instead of integer

With lower resolution like 1024x768 you should also experiment with
the smoothing parameter!!

I have never usesd Imageshack's thumbnail option before, but I notice you often have to click on the image twice to get the full-sized picture.
Otherwise Imageshack seems quite a good service; quite how they can support all this free hostinguseage I don't know.

TourqueGlare,

The purpose of thumbnails is to reduce the loading time of the post...
Your thumb is a PNG!!!! 332 Ko!!!!
Your logo is also a PNG  44Ko!!

Without changing the size, I can do respectively a 76Ko jpeg for your thumb and 16Ko gif for you logo without losing quality...

Try thinking in people who don't have DSL...

I had good dial-up.
The make it so refers to Star Trek.
Patrick Stewart says that in The Next Generation.
