Screenshot Contest for Motherlode Backdrop

Hi,
I'd like to announce a screenshot contest with a special twist. The grand prize will be having your shot displayed as the background to the Celestia Motherlode site! Becuse of this, we need screenshots that display most of the "action" in the left 130 pixels. If you crop to only the left 130px of your shot, it should look cool and complete, though it certainly won't hurt to have interesting things going on in the other part.
This is your chance at everlasting fame, and perhaps even fortune! Who knows? Start flying around and grabbing screens!
Joe

Don??t crop your image, it is better that there is room to fade it to black right and bottom (so it fits seamlessly into the site design). Also, please take the shot without text info on the display...

Wow, this is exciting. Good to add a little twist to keep the idea of a screenshot competition fun.
Shouldn't this be a sticky article?

Oops... Is this animosity I can feel in your sentence?
Apparently Joe hasn't take the time to contact you before creating this thread...
I don't think it was his intention to steal you the idea... It's pretty cool from him to do this contest in a clear goal: renovating the background of the ML...
Finally the restriction in the 130px make this contest quite different than yours, where the goal was just to do the best shot...
Seems that TourqeGlare don't took the time to read this point...

Is this the kind of screenshot you want for the Motherlode? This is just a test shot just to see if I'm doing it correct:

Joe,
The actual color of links in ML match the dominant color of the background (Titan and parts of Cassini)... Will you change this according to the new shot?
The orange was quite cool because of the unity between ML and the Solaris theme for the forum... is this a point of consideration?
I suppose we need to do a file to the minimum compression for better work, right?

Runar did most of the site's visual design, including the color scheme. Personally, I doubt there'll be any major changes to that.

Yes, sorry if this wasn't clear, the image itself should be as big as the image at
http://celestiamotherlode.net/siteimage ... plash2.jpg but most of the action should be in the leftmost 130px. And we can't use screenshots with text as the background, so these can't win the contest. Don't worry about compressions or fading at this point, becuase we can do that to the winner.
@MK - You have the right idea about where the action should go, but the shot needs to be wider for people with huge screens. Also, I prefer real add-on, or at least very realistic ficitional ones, like the Ran planets. Those are a little outlandish.
@EC - Changing the link color depends on the final shot. Runar correctly pointed out that it may be hard to find a color that stands out against black well, so we'll just have to see.
@jgrillo - My intention wasn't to steal your thunder in any way. If you want to make a separate contest for June under the old rules, feel free. If so, I'll change the name of this post.
@TG - The shot has the action in the middle. We are looking for something in the left 130 pixels.
Cheers,
Joe

According to my dictionary "outlandish" means:
Freakishly or grotesquely strange or odd, ...
I couldn't have described the planets better myself.
I'll try using planets from my Proxima Centauri addon instead of Lera for the real contest entry.

For the record, I didn't actually crop the image, it was that size in the first place and I simply cut and pasted the planets into the image.

Sorry for the
h... I don't think a montage must be done... a simple screenshot (screen size), with (as already said) the center of interest placed in the left side... the rest of the shot is also important to fade with the black background...

Hmm...
...to pour some oil into the fire
...
Why again, don't our "Pros", Runar or ElChristou, make a nice background image? It's for sure going to be better than the rest and causes less noise...
I followed the previous contests for curiosity -- wondering about the apparent lack of "phantasy": ~90 % of the submitted motives were
round
But I am just en excentric "outsider" to this game of which I don't understand anything. So just ignore this post, please

Perhaps later.

You know what I was alluding to, Runar,
..."Christmas balls & friends" ...of course.
But your "Hexa-world" is cute, indeed. I take back whatever I said
