I need Help - Crashing Celestia!

I dowwnloaded Celestia today - it opens then pixels of color begin spreading over my entire monitor - my computer locks up and has to be manually turned off. My system is:
dual 2.2 GHz Xeons
GeForce4 4600 128MB dualhead video card (downloaded new drivers today)
1GB RDRAM

After I downloaded the new NVIDIA drivers today the amount of color pixels was reduced, but still the same result - crash.

Any suggestions? Help!
Thanks

You need to specify what operating system you're running. Solutions for Windows may not work for Linux, for example.

This is the first time I've heard of this particular symptom, but it smells to me like defective RAM. Does your system have ECC memory installed and ECC enabled in the BIOS?

Please try to run another OpenGL application as a check! Whatever your OS, there are plenty of such applications available. Are you a total Newbie or why did you assume we know what OS you are using? Remember, Celestia is a multi-platform application...

I never heard of similar symptoms in the context of Celestia.

Yes, I am a newbie, and I also forgot to list OS as WIN xp pro w/sp2. I wasn't assuming you knew, I just forgot to list it.

What openGL application would you suggest?

At the moment I don't know about ECC but will check.
Thanks
