Celestia on drive D and textures

I recently changed the cfg file to run extras folder from my D drive. So far so good, everything seems great. My question is... does the following ssc in some way change the colours of a particular texture? Celestia opens to this earthview just fine, yet when I had it installed to the Celestia/textures/hires folder (previous to the cfg change) the oceans in particular seemed a bit darker.
Modify "Earth" "Sol"
{
Texture "earth.dds"
NightTexture "earthnight.png"
SpecularTexture "earth-spec.ctx"
NormalMap "earth-normal.ctx"
CloudMap "earth-clouds.png"
}
I have made no changes to solarsys in the data folder, I only changed the cfg to avoid the gigabytes worth of data Celestia can easily swell to on my C drive. While I think things are pretty much swell, maybe someone could offer some tips/advice on this technique.
By the way, Celestia and its community have taught me so much about the universe (not to mention my computer)...I do feel the need to express my thanks and admiration. I've been able to share this jaw-dropping experience with friends, strangers and educators...all are amazed. Thank you, thank you, thank you all...with special thanks to Chris of course. Lastly, does anyone know if Fridger ever sleeps? Wow... busy, super-creative guy.
