How to add a new name for a star ?

Hi everybody,

For a sci-fi universe i'm writing, i'm searching for a means to rename a star. That is, it keeps all its classical, astronomical names, but it'll be renamed as it is colonized : how do i add the new name to those set in Celestia.

I saw a starnames.dat, but is it possible to add a name w/o tampering w/ the original Celestia files ?

Thanks in advance,

I think is in Star.dat, you must use CStarConv for extract Catalog from this, also you can add your star with new ID, after Rebuild Star.dat (With CStarConv).
Open starnames.dat, and add your star with ID you give in your Star.dat like this : 3332352:MYSTAR.

CStarsConv and Star Names

Just for the record, CStarsConv does not currently export star names. The Star System Registry (SSR) format does support star names. However, CStarsConv does not know about Celestia's starnames file. The source code for CStarsConv is posted on the SpaceGear.Org (SGO) site, so if someone wants to take that on as a project, SGO would be happy to post that update for everyone.
